Shipping policy

A Shopify shipping policy clearly outlines your store's delivery timelines, costs, and terms. It builds customer trust, prevents support tickets, and sets expectations at checkout. You can draft this natively in your Shopify admin under Settings > Policies, and easily link it to your website's footer. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

What to Include in Your Policy
Your shipping policy should be clear and concise. Be sure to cover the following core areas: [1]
  • Order Processing Time: The time it takes to prepare an order before it ships (e.g., 1-3 business days).
  • Shipping Rates: Whether you charge flat rates, carrier-calculated rates, or offer free shipping.
  • Delivery Times: Estimated delivery windows for both domestic and international destinations.
  • Carriers & Tracking: The shipping providers you use (e.g., FedEx, DHL) and how tracking numbers are provided.
  • Customs & Duties: Who is responsible for international import fees and taxes.
  • Exceptions & Delays: Potential holiday delays, restricted shipping areas (if any), and policies for lost or damaged packages.

How to Add Your Policy in Shopify
  1. Log into your Shopify Admin and navigate to Settings > Policies.
